As a seasoned traveler, I have learned many tips and tricks to make the most out of any trip. Here are seven travel tips that I recommend to fellow travelers:
Find a credit card that maximizes your travel plans - With so many credit cards offering travel rewards, it's important to find one that fits your specific needs. Whether it's earning points for flights, hotels, or rental cars, a good travel credit card can save you a lot of money and make your trips more enjoyable. Disney, Royal Caribbean, Delta Airlines, and Marriott are some examples of trip-specific credit cards. Alternatively, you can find a general travel credit card such as Chase Sapphire or Capital One Venture.
Utilize the Club lounges in the airports - If you're traveling often, consider investing in a lounge membership or using your credit card points to gain access to airport lounges. Here you can enjoy free food and drinks, comfortable seating, and even showers to freshen up before your flight in some locations. This is also great if you have travel anxiety or find you need a break from the hustle and bustle of airports.
Use packing cubes - Packing cubes are a game-changer when it comes to organizing your luggage. They allow you to separate your clothes and easily find what you need without having to dig through your entire suitcase. I also use them to separate dirty clothes and clean clothes on my return journey home.
Dress in layers for flights - Planes can be unpredictable when it comes to temperature, so it's best to dress in layers. This way, you can easily adjust to any changes in temperature on the flight. I tend to be very cold on flights so the extra layers keeps me warm while flying. I can then remove the layer when I land in warm destinations.
Bring snacks - Airport food is notoriously expensive, so it's a good idea to bring your own snacks. Not only will you save money, but you'll also have a snack readily available in case of any flight delays. If you are a picky eater (or traveling with them), then it's peace of mind to know you have suitable snacks.
Write about your trip - Keeping a travel journal or blog is a great way to document your adventures and share them with others. It's also a great way to reflect on your experiences and remember all the details of your trip. It's amazing how much we forget about trips. I love reading my old journals to re-discover something I had forgotten about a trip.
Buy travel protection - No one likes to think about things going wrong on a trip, but it's important to be prepared. Travel insurance can protect you against unexpected trip cancellations, medical emergencies, and other unforeseen events. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind while traveling.
