It was our last day in Amsterdam and we spent the day shopping. Brian’s luggage did not make it here yesterday and today we found out that they sent it to London. We aren’t sure when he’ll get his bag and our itinerary doesn’t have much time for shopping on the trip. We walked from our new ship, Riverside Debussy, into town. We found a TK Max and a Lululemon and Brian purchased some clothes to tide him over.
The all-aboard time was 4:30pm and we made it back to the ship with plenty of time. We settled into our room. I unpacked my bags and Brian cut the tags off all his new clothes. We are staying in a Seahorse Suite and it is amazing. We have a giant window and the top drops down to make a balcony. We have a decent size closet, desk, sitting chair, large bathroom with double sinks. You would never think this cabin was on a river cruise! Our room was also nicely stocked with a welcome gift of champagne and chocolates and a mini-fridge with soda, water, beer, and juice. While I loved my room on my last ship, this is a step up. Granted, this is a higher category as well. Oh did I mention Riverside cabins have butler service?
The last couple of weeks I haven’t slept much. While fun, my days have been long and packed with new experiences, learning, and working. It has caught up with me. I enjoy the cabin by relaxing and watching a movie. I watched Barbie! I paused it several times as a dozed in and out while watching it. Not because of the movie content, but because I was so tired. It felt really nice to catch up on sleep.
Dinner tonight was amazing. My best meal of the trip so far. Riverside Luxury Cruises knows how to make the best food. I ordered the pea soup as my appetizer, veal as my entree, and a local dessert. I have never had veal back home that I liked. The other day one of the other ships had veal on their buffet. I tried a small piece and realized it was different than back home. I wondered if it was a fluke so I ordered it tonight. Not a fluke. European veal tastes different and much better!
We learn that we will be passing through locks tonight. Brian and I talk about how we don’t need to see them since we saw several while we passed through the Panama Canal last year. Once we leave dinner, we can see that we’re in a lock. We go outside and watch. I guess we haven’t seen enough of them yet! We call it an early night.
