Sea Day on Celebrity Summit
I start my sea day morning how I’ve started most mornings onboard Celebrity Summit. Breakfast! I eat breakfast in the main dining room and as always, the service is great. Over the course of the week, I’ve tried the French Omelet, Waffles, and French Toast. I think the French toast tasted the best of the three. I started each morning with a small chocolate croissant that was so delicious that I didn’t want to try any of the other pastries. I also ordered a bowl of berries each day as well which is not on the menu. This idea has spread. Melinda started ordering it after she found out about it and then today the couple next to use also ordered it. They mentioned it later that they had no idea that berries were an option. My secret is getting out.
We have office hours for Distinctive Voyages, so we gather our laptops and man the desk. Most people visit us to ask questions about the tour, but since the tour is done, I highly doubt anyone will stop by from the program. Instead, we provide directions for anyone that comes by. We had one person asking about the Future Cruise Desk. This is a place on most ships where you can book your next cruise. You can often get the best deal when you book onboard and if you booked with a travel advisor then you will keep your advisor on the cruise you book onboard as well. If you aren’t sure what you want to book, you can book a placeholder. This is basically paying for the deposit and then you can apply it to so sailing within a certain number of days to get the extra onboard credit or whatever the promotion is onboard. We also get people asking about their lost water bottles and asking for directions to something taking place on the ship. I watch spy type movies and in most of the movies there is a part where they impersonate someone to get into a place. I always thought this was a little farfetched. Surely someone would notice that the name tag doesn’t match or the uniform is different. Well, I can attest that this is not farfetched at all. My Distinctive Voyages name tag has proven that that detail alone is enough for people to think that I work here. Maybe it wouldn’t fool the crew, but certainly the guests think I am a crew member.
It’s time to get to work. I’ve been playing all week, and I have actual work to get caught up on. My first thought is to work by the coffee shop. I can grab an iced latte and work. The area is pretty full with little tables available and a lot going on. I decide it’s not going to be conducive to work. I remember the Sky Lounge. This is where we hosted the cocktail hour and is a room with panoramic views.
The Sky Lounge is hosting a special event for high-tiered loyalty members. This is my first Celebrity Cruise so I don’t qualify for this event. As I contemplate where to go next, one of the concierge ladies says hello to me and invites me to the party! I oblige and find a seat. I’m greeted with a glass of champagne and soon they are passing out canapés. I choose a caprese salad on a crouton and a chocolate cake. I’m not really sure what’s going to happen at this party. Officers come up and talk for a while and then a bartender puts on a show. He’s showing us how to make three different drinks. He hands out the finished drink to a lucky person nearby. I’m a tiny bit envious. Then, a bunch of servers circle the area with the drink. We all get one! The ones they are giving to everyone is about a champagne flute size of the cocktail so not a full drink, but also a good size to sample. This happens two more times. Work is not looking good. I’m two champagne glasses and three sample sizes of cocktails in and now I’m ready for a nap.
We eat lunch in the main dining room and then we sit out in the fresh air. We’re navigating through the inside passage. The scenery is beautiful and every so often we’re greeted with a whale. I also saw a small pod of porpoises. It’s beautiful and a wonderful way to end our time in Alaska.
