Traveling to Walt Disney World

Today is travel day and I have an unusual afternoon flight. Most of my travel days begin with an early day so it’s a nice change-up to have a normal morning. I took my son to swim lessons and then my husband and son took me to the airport.
I tried a new test today. I am frequently “randomly selected” for extra screening. I normally wear joggers, a t-shirt, and a hoodie on travel days. It’s a comfortable outfit and I love the hood for the plane. I’m always so cold! Today I still wore joggers, but I had a nice blouse and jacket instead of the t-shirt and hoodie. A very rare thing happened at security today. I put my stuff on the belt, walked through the metal detector, and picked up my bags and continued on my way. No pat downs, no extra metal wand, no checking my hair, no wiping my hands, no looking in my bags. Maybe I was just lucky today, but pretty sure my dress has a part with extra security checks.
What has caused extra security checks for you? I’ve personally experienced delays with empty water bottles, baby wipes, snacks, a power inventor, a “Book It” button (when I was a kid and wearing my Pizza Hut button), a set of snooker balls, hair in a loose bun, thick soled shoes, and batteries. I’m sure other things too, but this is what comes to mind.
My friend was flying from Philadelphia, and we met up at the airport. We landed minutes from each other, and we received our bags at almost the same time too. That’s so rare when meeting friends at the airport after a flight!
We took a Lyft to Disney’s Saratoga Springs and were dropped off at the lobby. I had already completed check-in on my phone, so a Disney Cast Member loaded our luggage in a golf cart and we took a ride to our room. This resort is huge and, in my opinion, a little difficult to navigate. 3-nights into my stay and I finally feel like a know my way around.

Dinner was the next order of business. I had made reservations for The Turf Club which is the table-service restaurant at our hotel. It’s themed to Saratoga Springs and horses. There are jockey uniforms on the wall and overall, the restaurant has a country club cozy vibe. Delicious bread is brought to the table which is a welcome surprise. I ordered the fried chicken with vegetables and a sangria. I absolutely love how Disney handles allergies. The chef came out. The normal recipe has my allergy, but he offered to make it in a way I can eat. He asked about cross contamination and if he needed to use fresh oil. It’s so refreshing to eat out and not worry about the ramifications of accidentally ingesting my allergy. Disney handles this the best! Tomorrow is the start of the conference, but we have some fun in store!
