Our morning starts out slow. We are docking in Isafjordur, but we won’t arrive until noon. This gives us plenty of time to get ready for the day and have breakfast. We go to the buffet for breakfast where I have some sausage and potatoes. My son has a bunch of fruit. We then go to the Yacht Club and check on the progress of the puzzle. There is a community puzzle out and a few of us work on it when we have some free time. My son likes to check on the progress, so we do. It is close to being completed!
I booked our tour with West Travel and was pleasantly surprised that Windstar used this same company for their option. Our tour was much less expensive than the Windstar option, so we’ll see how it goes! We are going to Dynjandi Waterfall. It takes about an hour to drive from the port to the waterfall and our driver tells us all about things along the way. We have 90 minutes at the waterfall and that makes me happy. My ankle is not great, but I’ve come all this way and I’m seeing this waterfall. I ask my husband to take everyone else up and I’ll go at my own pace. I’m not sure how far I’ll be able to go. The trail is a mix of slopes, stairs, and rock scrambling. I take my time and make it to the first platform. The waterfall is so much bigger than it appears from the road. My ankle is doing okay so I keep going. I get up to the second platform and my family is here. They are already on their way down from the top and they are surprised to see me this high! I ask my husband to wait for me because I might need help down. I attempt to go even higher, but the trail turns very rustic at the top. I decide that the view from where I am and the very top isn’t worth rock scrambling with a bum ankle so I make my way down. I’m glad my husband is here to help because going down is harder for me. It’s a beautiful day to see waterfalls!

We make it back to the parking lot with time to use the bathrooms before getting on the bus. Our driver gives us each a bottle of water and then we’re on our way back to port.
The beauty of Iceland and Dynjandi Waterfall is hard to put into words and pictures. I feel like all of the pictures that I took don’t do this place justice. There were so many times on the hike where I stood there admiring the beauty of the waterfall and the lush landscape nearby. The sound of the waterfall also creates a sense of peace. Nature vacations are probably my favorite type of vacation. Going to grand landscapes and connecting with nature always rejuvenates me. Today, we’ve had amazing weather as well which has made the experience even more enjoyable. If you haven’t taken a nature vacation that involves visiting national parks and waterfalls, then you need to put it on your list!

We spend a little time wandering around the port and end up at a brewery. The place is packed with people from the ships. Our ship is tiny, but there is a large ship docked here as well. We go to the counter to order our food and drinks. I order a pretzel and my older son orders a flight of beer. My husband and younger son end up leaving because the place is too loud and crowded. The food and drinks were very good, but right now it feels more like a tourist place than a local spot. It probably becomes a local spot later!

Verandah Restaurant, which is the buffet, turns into Candles at night. It’s a specialty steak and seafood restaurant at night and we have dinner reservations. I have loved the food at Amphora so I’m curious to see if the specialty food is even better. It is! Our meal starts with bread, but it’s different from the bread in Amphora. It has little green pieces in it and I’m not sure on the taste based on the look of it. I try a piece and it’s amazing. I don’t know what the green is in it, but it’s buttery and delicious. It’s so good that my son eats five pieces. Appetizers are next and I have a watermelon salad which was very good. My entree is filet mignon with broccolini. It was amazing and my favorite meal on the ship so far. I really love filet though so that’s hard to beat. Dessert is crème brûlée which is another favorite of mine. Candles was amazing and it’s fantastic that it’s included!
